Offline messaging when mobile data is gone

Offline here means the phones are close enough for radio. It does not mean a message to another city without a carrier.
What “offline” covers
The text travels from your radio to a nearby radio. WhatsApp still needs a path to its servers to send something new. SMS still needs a cell tower.
Bluetooth and Wi-Fi Direct
Bluetooth is the short, simple link. Android’s Wi-Fi Direct APIs connect two devices without a hotspot and typically reach farther than classic Bluetooth, when both phones support it.
KingFy OffChat
OffChat is the Android module inside KingFy. It is not in the browser. Both people need the app with OffChat on. It does not cover iPhone. It does not replace emergency numbers.

OffChat as documented here is Android. An iPhone is not a peer on this mesh.
Is this WhatsApp airplane mode?
No. Airplane mode may show old chats. Sending a new WhatsApp message still needs the internet.
